My name is Katie Kurylo and I am a graduate of Slippery Rock University.

I hold a B.S. in Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations. While at SRU, I have had the opportunity to participate in SRU's chapter of Public Relations Student Society of America. I was president of this group for a semester and loved overseeing the group's work in our student-based PR firm, Rock PRoductions.

I interned at the Allegheny Department of Human Services working on their website. My main responsibility was to organize and create new content pages for DHS' website. I worked daily with the Content Management System that organizes DHS' site. While there, I was also an integral member of the team that crafted a social media campaign to augment the traditional media for one of DHS' fundraising events, Candidates Comedy Night. I was in charge of writing and posting tweets to our Twitter account to publicize the event. I was also a part of DHS' first "twitter-view", an interview organized completely over Twitter, with the headlining act of another fundraising event, Pittsburgh-based band Rusted Root.

Most recently, I have designed a website for a local American-Italian cafe, CC's Cafe. I also interned at Animal Friends, a "premier companion animal resource center" located north of Pittsburgh. While there, I had the opportunity to take part in the annual Black Tie and Tails fundraiser. I was also able to expand on my graphic design abilites and was the author of an article in the Petsburgh Press.
